Flight

So we're on the plane and I'm slightly tipsy. Nightmare @ checking - I was fine, but Wil had to go to the "special services" line -- where we waited for 90 minutes. Good thing we got to the airport so early! Then they wanted me to go wait in another line to check my bag... but eventually (since there were 10+ of us in the "special services" limbo, they let us move to the front of the queue.

Eventually we made it through check-in and the huge (but relatively fast-moving) line at security. And we still had time to raise a glass to Betsy before getting on the plane.

It's a relatively full flight, but it seems like we've got nice people around us, so that's good.

Really excited about our trip - happy that everything has gone smoothly so far!

nearly ready

We've been packed for days... but of course still went out today to pick up some last-minute things. But I really think we're packed now. Oh, unless I need to bring...

summer hair

So I had decided that I needed a haircut before my trip. But when? When would I manage to do it? We needed to spend an evening with Matt, and I had a dinner with one of my agencies another night, and then we're leaving on Sunday... so what to do?

Then Lindsay reminded me that *she* was having a haircut on Thursday... at lunchtime. So just before my dinner on Wednesday I called Beehive -- the place I had my hair cut last August -- to see if they had any openings Thursday morning. I booked an 11:00 just so I wouldn't have to think about it.

Laura was a great stylist -- very patient and understanding of a lazy person who simply won't do any styling. :) After the cut I went in to work, where I finally realized that I had cut a lot of hair off. As I was chatting with folks in the kitchen, in walked Lindsay -- with HER summer cut. Let's just say we had similar styles -- though she had gotten the fringe that I hadn't. Hilarious!

Still, I'm very happy with my hair -- and extra happy to have checked it off my list.

3 more work days...

A very long day at work, though I feel like I made a tiny dent in my list. Of course, I didn't actually do what I had planned on doing, which is clear off my desk. Poor Lindsay.

The big news is that Wil was offered a job today -- when we return from our trip Wil will start his new job. Hooray!

packed

It still seems pretty surreal -- but Wil and I went out to get a few last things and both of us are packed and ready to go. Or as ready as we can be. Still lots of random small tasks to do but we're very close. Can't believe it!

Yes, I'm taking too much stuff. I know this. But I can't help it.

just around the corner!

Wil and I spent the day helping our friend Mike and Allison sell their Heavenly pretzels and "big cheezy" scones at the Seattle International Beer Festival -- 12 long hours, but good fun (and good beer). We stood and danced and chatted and laughed all day. Really great day. But that's the last big task before we go on our trip -- so I guess we need to get packed now.

<10 days

Made a quick trip to REI today -- Wil decided that his shoes were indeed too big, so we exchanged them for a half size smaller. Oh, and we bought additional random items -- an ultralight "packtowl" for me (to replace my giant "lite" one) and sunhats for the both of us. Really not much else we can buy at this point...

Terrifying to notice that we are less than 10 full days away from our departure. Umm, how are we going to get everything done? Not sure. But we have a long weekend which gives us time to pack for real... and then we'll make up the daily cleaning roster so that the house is sparkling clean for when Matt moves in.
